Actor Asif Basra, 53, reportedly committed suicide at his home in Himachal Pradesh’s Dharamshala on Thursday. The reason behind the suicide is not known. A team of forensic experts is currently on the spot and an investigation is underway.
The actor was found hanging in a private complex in Dharamshala, a news agency reported. The report also quoted SSP Kangra, Vimukt Ranjan, saying that a forensic team is at the spot and police is investigating the matter. The police has also sent the body for postmortem.
Asif Basra had worked in a number of films including Parzania, Black Friday, Kai Po Che!, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, Jab We Met, Krrish 3, Ek Villain, Freaky Ali, Kaalakaandi, Hichki, The Tashkent Files and several others.
He also acted in web series Paatal Lok, Woh and Hostages. He was also seen in Hollywood film Outsourced. Asif was also seen in a Tamil film, a Himachali film and Gujarati film Wrong Side Raju.
Asif Basra’s death shocks Bollywood
As soon as the news of the actor’s death spread, reactions started pouring in from Bollywood. Filmmaker Hansan Mehta reacted to the tragic news. He said, “Asif Basra! Can’t be true… This is just very, very sad.”

Reacting to the tweet of Hansal Mehta, actor Manoj Bajpayee said: “What? This is too shocking!! Shot with him just before Lockdown!!! Oh My God!”
Boxer Vijendar Singh said: “Rest in peace Asif Basra saab. Ab koi CBI ki maang nahi karega.”
Filmmaker Onir said: “In shock. Can’t believe that we have lost him. #asifbasra Used to meet him so often at the park jogging. He would tell me not to jog sideways, I might lose balance and hurt myself.”
Many social media users reiterated the fact that he was a very good actor and portrayed various challenging roles with ease and perfection.
