Several parts of the city recorded heavy rains accompanied by thunder for a few hours on Monday. State capital Gandhinagar also reported heavy rains around 3 pm in the afternoon. The weather in the city that had been bright and sunny in the morning took a turn by afternoon as the sky turned cloudy accompanied by strong breeze.
Media reports said that the rains resulted in the Akhbarnagar underpass getting flooded again although it was not severe enough for it to be closed down. Some of the areas that received rain in the city included Juhapura, SG Highway,Ghatlodia, Vejalpur, Vatva, Bopal, Ashram Road, Naranpura, Jashodanagar, and Maninagar.
Meanwhile across the state, Bhavnagar witnessed heavy rains with some parts reporting 3 inches of rainfall in a span of an hour. Low lying areas of the city got flooded due to the downpour. A report of a short circuit after lightning struck a mobile tower was also reported from the city . Rural areas of the district also recorded heavy rains. Nilwada village, in Babra taluka of the district reported 3.5 inches of rainfall in an hour.
