Surat: Batuk Vadodaria, former president of Surat district unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), will join the BJP on Tuesday.  Just a day earlier, Vadodaria was suspended from all post for “anti-party activities.

In a notice, AAP state organization secretary of south zone Ram Dhaduk said, “As president of AAP Surat, Batuk Vadodariya was instigating party workers and office-bearers against his own party. It has come to light that he has been working secretly for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for a long time and helping them by creating dissatisfaction in party workers against the party office-bearers and have been instigating them(sic).”

Surat has become a strong foothold for AAP as the party looks at consolidating its position in Gujarat. The party had made unexpected and big gains during the municipal corporation elections earlier this year. While inaugurating the party headquarters in Ahmedabad in June, AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal had said that the party would contest on all 182 seats in the Assembly elections in 2022.
