- Applicants will have to take prior appointment or a token before going for new card or revision in the old one
The wait to get a new Aadhaar card in Ahmedabad is all set to end. With the Covid-19 situation under control and the number of daily cases seeing a dip, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has decided to reopen Aadhaar card centres in the city from Tuesday, June 8. Aadhaar card centres have been set up at 21 different places in the city.
To get a new card, or for any revisions, applicants must either get prior appointment or take a token. Without these, registration will not be done. Also, the applicant must carry original documents.
These centres will be open from 10 am to 5.30 pm, with a half-an-hour lunch break from 2 pm to 2.30 pm.
When the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic struck the city, the AMC had decided to close all its civic centres, keeping most services available online. This included the Aadhaar card centres. Offices had been told to allow just 50% staff on the premises. With the decline in cases, the state government allowed all offices, both private and government, to start functioning at full capacity from Monday.
