A Gift to Motera: India to Play Day-Night Test At World’s Largest Cricket Stadium

Ahmedabad: The world’s largest cricket stadium is ready in Motera, Ahmedabad. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium with a capacity of 110,000 spectator. While the official said that among the unique features are the four world-class dressing rooms. The stadium will be inaugurated by US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. But the sports lovers will have to wait a bit to enjoy the game on this ground. However, this wait will be special.  India is more likely to host England in Day-night test at Motera Stadium in Jan- Feb 2021.

The BCCI’s apex council meeting in Delhi has decided that the Indian team will play two day-night Test matches in the next year. One of these test matches will be held on Australia, while the second test match will be held in Motera, the world’s largest cricket stadium in India.

To be organized next year

Indian team will host England team in Motera Stadium, Ahmedabad in the Pink Ball Test i.e. Day-Night Test. According to a report by English website Cricbuzz, there will be a day-night test between England and India at Motera Stadium in January-February 2021, while before that the Indian team will participate in the Pink Ball Test match against Australia in December 2020 in their country. During the 2018-19 tour of Australia, the BCCI turned down Cricket Australia’s proposal for Pink Ball Test, but now BCCI President Sourav Ganguly himself has said that there will be a day-night test between India and Australia.

Eden Gardens has been hosted

After a long wait, the Indian team landed in their home ground for the first time to play Day-Night Test match last year. Till now India had played only day-night test at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Then the Indian team stepped into the Pink Ball Test against Bangladesh. The Indian team had named that match very easily.
