A three-storey building of the Housing Board collapsed in Bhavnagar on Sunday. The collapse of the Housing Board building created panic in the entire area. On receiving the information about the incident, the fire brigade team rushed the spot and undertook the rescue operation. The rescue team safely took out 6 people trapped under the debris of dilapidated building.

For last several years, the government has also announced to give written information about the building which is in a dilapidated condition, to prevent such incidents. But due to mistake of the landlord and the negligence on the part of government administration, such incidents are coming to the fore.
Many societies of Gujarat Housing Board across the state are in bad condition. The primary information about the same has to be given by the owner. Often the local administration, after conducting a survey, issues notices for such houses. But such incidents are not reducing due to negligence. The monsoon has not even started yet and such incidents have already started coming to the fore. Number of such incidents increase heavily during the monsoon.
Over 400 dilapidated houses in Ahmedabad
BJP councilor has claimed that there are more than 400 dilapidated houses in the Walled city area of Ahmedabad. He has written a letter to the Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and demanded to work out a specific policy. Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has no power in this regard. Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has limited power to only issue notices to owners of such houses from time to time. Every year in the walled city area of Ahmedabad, several incidents of collapse of dilapidated houses takes place during the monsoon.
