Prime Minister Narendra Modi will leave for an official visit to the US next month at the invitation of US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden. The Ministry of External Affairs in a statement said that PM Modi’s upcoming visit to the US underscores the growing importance of bilateral strategic ties and the views of both sides on an open and free Indo-Pacific.

The External Affairs Ministry said that a state dinner will be organized for PM Modi on June 22. The statement said, ‘PM Narendra Modi will go on an official visit to America next month. This includes a state dinner on 22 June 2023. PM Modi is going at the invitation of US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden. There is a possibility that PM Modi’s tour may start from June 21 and may last for four days.
Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement while announcing the visit said, “The upcoming visit will affirm the deep and close partnership between the US and India and the warm bonds of family and friendship that link Americans and Indians together.”
She added, ” PM Modi’s visit will strengthen two countries’ shared commitment to a free, open, prosperous, and secure Indo-Pacific, amid China’s aggressive behaviour in the strategic region. The visit will also elevate the bilateral strategic technology partnership, including in defence, clean energy, and space.”
Modi will join Biden and his counterparts from Australia and Japan at a summit of the Quad leaders in Sydney on May 24 that is expected to focus on implications of the Ukraine conflict and the overall situation in the Indo-Pacific.
Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the US comes ahead of the G20 summit being hosted by India in September.
