Ahmedabad: With rise in the temperature, problems of people have increased in many cities of Gujarat. The Meteorological Department (MD) has declared an Orange Alert for Ahmedabad city for the next five days. The temperature is expected to touch 43 degrees today on May 10 and 44 degrees on May 11. Subsequently, the heat level will further increase from May 12 to 14 and the temperature is likely to cross 43 degrees also.

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) Health Officer Dr. Bhavin Solanki said that AMC’s health team has made advance preparations in view of the increasing heat in Ahmedabad for the next five days. ORS packets will be provided free of charge at all BRTS and AMTS stations in the city. Besides, instructions have been given to set up heat stroke wards in all the AMC run hospitals of the city.
Residents of Ahmedabad have been appealed not to venture out during the afternoon, the laborers have also been appealed not to work during the afternoon. In case of feeling symptoms like dizziness, fever and headache, please contact your doctor. It has been also advised to contact 108. Besides, it is also advised to avoid going directly outside in heat from cool atmosphere of AC as people who go directly into heat from AC accommodation, whether it be office, mall or residence, are more likely to suffer heat stroke.
It may be noted that many people have lost their lives in the past due to excess heat in Ahmedabad. Every year in summer AMC prepares a heat action plan. Residents of Ahmedabad are being informed about the temperature forecast for next few days. So the can be alert and any major loss of life may be avoided. On the other hand, it has been predicted by the Meteorological Department that the heat will prevail till June.
