The Police claimed to have killed two Maoists in an encounter with the District Reserve Guard, in Maoist-dominated Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. Search operation is underway in the area. Meanwhile, police has denied the death toll to the increase in encounter with Maoists.

Bastar IG Sundarraj, talking to media, said the security personnel had gone for operation against Maoists to Dantespuram area of Bheji police station. They had an encounter in the morning with a group of Maoists in Dantespuram area.
Police recovered bodies of two people including a woman from the encounter site. It has been revealed that there was a reward of Rs. Eight lakh on the killed Maoist LOC commander Ira. The police have also claimed to have recovered several weapons from the spot. The search operation is still underway in the area.
District SP Sunil Sharma said,” Bodies of a Commander and a deputy Commander have been recovered. Many Maoists have been wounded in the firing. CRPF, Cobra Battalion and DRG jawans, who were present before the encounter have undertaken search operation.
Earlier, on April, 26, naxalites exploded an improvised explosive device (IED) to blow up the vehicle of District Reserve Guard in Aranpur of Dantewada. In the explosion 10 soldiers and one driver were martyred. It was the worst attack in Chhattisgarh since April 2021 when 22 police and paramilitary personnel were killed and at least two dozen others injured in a gunfight with Maoists in the Bastar region.
