India on Wednesday reported 3,720 new cases of COVID-19, a slight increase from Tuesday’s count of 3,325 infections, as per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s data. This comes after the country saw a declining trend in the daily Covid-19 cases over the last few days. Meanwhile, the active caseload was recorded at 40,177.

Meanwhile, India logged 20 deaths in the last 24 hours. The death count has increased to 5,31,584 with these fatalities, which includes five reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am showed.
Gujarat logs 96 new Covid-19 cases
Gujarat recorded 96 new cases of Covid-19 on Sunday. Whereas, 243 patients have recovered from the infection. Ahmedabad, at the top in the tally reported 29 cases while Surat 16, Baroda 13, Valsad 7, Bharuch and Gandhinagar each recorded 5 cases. Currently, there are total 946 active cases in the state, out of which 6 patients are being treated on ventilator.
The tally of Covid cases in the country now stands at 4.49 crore (4,49,56,716), according to the data. Meanwhile, the active cases now comprise 0.09 per cent of the total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.73 per cent, according to the ministry.
The number of people who have recuperated from the disease has surged to 4,43,84,955 while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.18 per cent.
According to the ministry’s website, 220.66 crore doses of vaccines have so far been administered in the country under the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive.
