Arun Gandhi, Grandson of Mahatma Gandhi passed away at the age of 89 at Kolhapur in Maharashtra on Tuesday after brief illness. Arun Gandhi’s son Tushar Gandhi gave this information by a tweet today. Arun Gandhi was sick for the last few days.

Arun Manilal Gandhi was the son of Mahatma Gandhi’s second son Manilal Gandhi. He was born on 14 April 1934 in Durban, South Africa. His father was the editor of Indian Opinion, a newspaper published from South Africa. He later followed his grandfather’s path and worked as an activist on socio-political issues.
Arun Gandhi also wrote several books that includes ‘My grandfather Mahatma Gandhi’s gifts of anger’. Later, he settled in America with his family in 1987. There he spent many years of his life in Memphis,Tennessee. He also founded the Institute for Non-Violence at the Christian Brothers University in Tennessee.
