A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Mumbai, on Friday, gave its verdict in connection with the death of actor Jiah Khan. Actor Sooraj Pancholi, accused of abetting Jiah Khan’s suicide, was acquitted in the case. He was at the CBI court, when the verdict was declared.

Jiah was found dead at her home in Mumbai on June 3, 2013. She was 25. Based on a letter seized a week later, purportedly written by her, Mumbai Police had booked Sooraj Pancholi under section 306 (abetment to suicide) and he was arrested. In the letter she had allegedly spoken about her troubled relationship with Sooraj, and said she was physically and mentally abuse by him.
Rabia Khan, mother of jiah Khan, told reporters outside the court after the verdict, “ Verdict is declared on abetment for suicide. But the question still unanswered is that how did my child die ? I am saying since beginning that this is a case of murder. My battle is still on, I will continue fighting. I will challenge the verdict in High Court.”
Prashant Patil, Suraj Pancholi’s lawyer, said that it is very easy to make accusations in front of the media outside the court, but there is nothing bigger than evidence. Law is above all. The court has acquitted Suraj Pancholi in view of all the evidences. The police and CBI on investigation found that Jiah Khan had suicidal tendencies.
It may be mentioned here that Jiah Khan was found dead at her home in Mumbai on June 3, 2013. She was 25. Jiah was best known for starring in ‘Nishabd’ opposite Amitabh Bachchan. After that, she was also seen in ‘Housefull’ and Aamir Khan’s film ‘Ghajini.’
