Ahmedabad: Summer has started with unseasonal rain in Gujarat this year. The rainy season prevailed in the state for almost entire March. Gujarat has not experienced severe heat yet, due to unseasonal rain. The rains that falls during March to May is called pre-monsoon rain. In the beginning of April, Gujarat experienced unseasonal rain and now it is expected that the the May will also begin with unseasonal rain.

According to forecast by Meteorological Department (MD), Light rain accompanied with Light Thunderstorms with maximum surface wind speed less than 40 kmph is very likely at isolated places in Kutch, Banas kantha, Patan, Mahesana, Gandhinagar, Ahmadabad, Bhavnagar, Botad, Amreli, Rajkot and Junagarh today.
MD has predicted unseasonal rain in Gujarat during the end of April and the weather to remain same in the beginning of May. Subsequently, the temperature is expected to rise. Generally, the state experience severe heat in April and May. But Gujarat is not as hot as before this year.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), rain is expected in many states of the country in beginning of May. Most of the states are likely to receive pre-monsoon rain by the end of April and in beginning of May.
Rain is expected in many areas of Gujarat till May 3. Due to the possibility of unseasonal rain in the end of April, the temperature may decrease. People may get relief from the scorching heat. The rain is expected around April 27-28 in some areas of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka and South Rajasthan.
