The Teacher Eligibility Test or TET-2 was conducted on Sunday in Gujarat. The exam was held across 926 centers of eight cities. Though TET-2, is usually conducted annually, has not been held for a period of five years despite repeated demands.

Last the TET-2 was conducted in 2018 and over two lakh candidates appeared in the test. This time a total of 2,76,066 applicants were registered but 2,37,760 candidates appearing for the test, which is an overall attendance of 86 per cent.
The exam was held in three languages – Gujarati, Hindi and English – across 926 examination centers. Ahmedabad recorded the highest number of candidates who missed the exam, Junagadh reported the least. Over 83 per cent candidates appeared for the exam in Ahmedabad, while Junagadh, the figure stood at 90 per cent.
General category applicants have to score a minimum of 60 per cent while Reserved categories candidates have to score at least 55 per cent marks.
The examination is conducted by the State Examination Board for the posts of primary teachers or Vidya Sahayak in upper primary government schools for Standards 6-8.
