India has recorded 7,178 new Covid-19 cases, while the number of active cases have been decreased after 69 days, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday. With 16 deaths the death toll has increased to 5,31,345, which includes eight reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases stood at 65,683. The daily positivity rate has been recorded at 9.16 per cent and the weekly positivity rate was pegged at 5.41 per cent. The Covid case tally has been recorded at 4.48 crore.
Maharashtra reports 545 cases, 2 deaths
Maharashtra reported 545 Covid-19 cases, with 141 of them coming from Mumbai on Sunday. This shows a drop of 35% in cases from 850 reported on Saturday in Maharashtra. Two deaths have been reported – one each in Mumbai and Ratnagiri. The death in the city was that of a 33-year-old male with comorbidities.
Gujarat logs 227 new cases
Gujarat recorded 227 new cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday. While 265 patients have recovered from the infection. Ahmedabad, was at the top in the tally with 97 cases, whereas Surat 35, Baroda 32, Sabar Kantha 16, Mehsana 11, and Gandhinagar reported 8 new cases of Covid – 19. Currently, there are total 1879 active cases in the state, out of which 4 patients are being treated on ventilator.
The active cases now comprise 0.15 per cent of the total infections and the national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.67 per cent, the ministry said.
The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,43, 01,865 while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.18 per cent.
According to the ministry’s website, 220.66 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.
