Microblogging site Twitter has removed the blue tick from legacy verified accounts. It means, those were the accounts which were blue ticked without availing the paid service from Twitter. Now you will not see blue tick on this account. If the account holder wants to get back the Blue Tick, they will have to pay subscription charges for Twitter Blue Tick.

This includes Bollywood stars Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar to cricket legend Virat Kohli, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and big names of Indian politics, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, UP CM Yogi Aditya Nath and former UP CM Mayawati. The blue tick has been removed from their Twitter accounts.
According to media reports, for now, only those Twitter users who pay an $8 monthly fee for Twitter Blue subscription have the blue check mark next to their names – with a handful of exceptions. Musk has announced that he is personally paying for Twitter Blue subscriptions for some celebrities so they can keep their blue checks. Musk is paying for Canadian actor William Shatner, NBA star LeBron James and author Stephen King – who had famously feuded with the Tesla billionaire over his plans to charge for verification
In November last year, Musk said “far too many corrupt blue legacy verification checkmarks exist” on Twitter. He has now succeeded in his mission to make it a paid-only feature.
When you see a blue check on Twitter now, it simply means the user paid for the company’s monthly subscription service.
