London: Inputs hint Pakistan behind attack on Indian High Commission, NIA to probe

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) will now investigate the demonstrations held at the Indian High Commission in London and the desecration of the tricolor. In the case of the protest in front of the Indian High Commission in London, there are inputs that Khalistan supporters have connection with Pakistan. Following the input NIA has taken over the case registered by the Special Cell of Delhi Police.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has directed the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to file a fresh case in connection with the attack by pro-Khalistan protesters on the Indian High Commission in London on March 19. However, NIA has not issued any official statement for the same.

The MHA has also directed the Delhi Police Special Cell, which last month registered a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, to hand over the investigation to the NIA. Sources said the decision has been taken after the preliminary investigation pointed to a terror link involving Pakistan’s ISI, and the Centre wants a thorough investigation.

Earlier, FIR was registered under section 2 of Prevention of Insults to National Honours Act, 1971, relating to protest by pro-Khalistan supporters outside the High Commission of India, London, on March 19 led by Avtar Singh alias Khanda and Gurcharan Singh, who instigated the mob of around 50-60 persons which vandalized the High Commission’s property, dishonoured the India National Flag… and grievously injured the officials…,”
