A tragic accident took place in Punjab late last night. A speeding truck ran over the pilgrims who were on foot going to celebrate Baisakhi at Sri Khuralgarh Sahib, the holy place of Guru Ravidas. Five devotees died on the spot while three people died during the treatment at the hospital. More than a dozen devotees have been injured. All of them are undergoing treatment at the hospital.

According to the information available the devotees were on their way for Ganga Darshan from Khuralgarh Sahib to Charanchhoh, on the occasion of Baisakhi. Meanwhile, a speeding truck rammed into them and ran over them. 5 people died on the spot and three more during treatment. While 13 people were seriously injured in the tragic accident.
The injured were taken to a government hospital for treatment. The condition of five devotees was reported to be serious. They have been referred to PGI Chandigarh. Police immediately rushed to the spot on receiving of the information about the accident. After registering a case police has undertaken further legal action.
