PM Narendra Modi has expressed optimism on the encouraging numbers of tiger census. The tiger population in India was 3,167 in 2022, revealed the latest tiger census data released by PM Modi on Sunday. According to the data, the tiger population stood at 1,411 in 2006, 1,706 in 2010, 2,226 in 2014, 2,967 in 2018 and 3,167 in 2022.

Meanwhile, PM Modi established the International Big Cats Alliance in Mysore and said,” India is now establishing the alliance to breed tigers, lions, leopards, snow leopards, puma, jaguars and cheetahs globally.”
In a tweet, PM Modi said, “The numbers of the tiger census are encouraging. Congratulations to all stakeholders and environment lovers. This trend also places an added responsibility of doing even more to protect the tiger as well as other animals. This is what our culture teaches us too.”
Later on, PM Modi went on a “safari” at the Bandipur Tiger Reserve in Karnataka amidst the picturesque surroundings of the towering Western Ghats on Sunday, as part of program to mark 50 years of “Project Tiger ‘.
PM Modi, dressed in a speckled safari clothing and hat, reportedly covered about 20-km distance in the open jeep, during the Safari at the Tiger Reserve, located partly in Gundlupet taluk of Chamarajanagar district, and partly in H.D.Kote and Nanjangud taluks of Mysuru District.
