NCP chief Sharad Pawar, addressing a press conference in Delhi, rejected the opposition’s demand for a JPC inquiry into the Adani case. He said that there was a time when we had to criticize the ruling party, we used to take the name of Tata-Birla. Tata has given sizable contribution to the country. Now a days Ambani-Adani name is mentioned, there is a need to think about their contribution to the country.

On the demand for JPC by the opposition over Adani issue, NCP chief Sharad Pawar said that JPC was demanded by all our comrades, this is true but we think that out of 21 members in JPC there will be 15 from the ruling party. When majority people belong to the ruling party, how the truth will come out before the country.
After the statement of NCP chief, the question has been raised about unity of the opposition. Meanwhile, leaders of NCP’s ally Congress and Shiv Sena have issued the statements. Sanjay Raut said there may be difference of opinion between Trinomial Congress or NCP on Adani case, but it will not cause any rift in the unity of opposition.
Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole, reacting to statement of NCP chief Sharad Pawar, said, ” It could be his personal opinion. A court committee was also convened in the case of coal scam but the JPC was conducted at the behest of the opposition. There should be a JPC on the Adani issue.”
