Union Minister Smriti Irani slammed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the violence during the Ram Navami procession in Howrah. Smriti accused her of giving “clean chit” to those who pelted stones during the procession. Smriti Irani said,” The question is, how long Mamata will continue the attacks on Hindus.”

Smriti Irani claimed this is not first such incident during reign of Mamata Banerjee. In 2022, while Dalits were offering Laxmi Puja the attack was carried out on them. She was silent at that time also. Two communities clashed during Ram Navami procession in Howrah and many vehicles were torched. Public and private properties were damaged in violent attacks by rioters.
Meanwhile, West Bengal Government has ordered a probe by CID in the incident of violence during Ram Navami procession in Howrah. A special team led by Sunil Chaudhary, IGP,CID has commenced its investigation. Besides, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has also talked to C V Anand Bose, Governor, West Bengal and took the stock of the situation after violence.
Meanwhile, West Bengal BJP President, in a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, has demanded an investigation, in violence during Ram Navami Procession in Howrah, by National Investigation Agency (NIA). TMC and BJP leaders are engaged in making statements against each other after the violence. Earlier, Mamata Banerjee also slammed BJP and Modi Government at the Centre.
