India recorded yet another highest number of new COVID-19 cases in the country in the last 24 hours upto Saturday morning. The country saw 9,887 fresh cases reported in the last 24 hours taking the total tally to 2,36,657. India now has the sixth highest number of cases in the world.
294 fatalities were recorded, the highest deaths in a day with Maharashtra and Delhi alone accounting for 139 deaths and 58 deaths each.Mumbai accounted for 54 of the 139 deaths in Maharashtra.
The country at present has 1,15,942 active coronavirus patients in India. Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Gujarat also recorded the single highest spike in daily cases. Maharashtra recorded 2,436 new cases crossing the 80,000-mark.
Gujarat saw the biggest spike in COVID-19 count as over 500 people tested positive for the disease taking the total cases to 19,094. Tamil Nadu had 1,438 fresh cases with total touching 28,694. Kerala, in a first, reported over 100 COVID-19 cases in a single day. The state’s total tally is 1,699.
