Third consecutive day of recording over 900 cases in a day, total touches 44,648
Gujarat on Tuesday recorded 925 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, which is the highest single day spike in COVID-19 ever recorded in the state. It is also the third time that the per day cases have crossed the 900 mark. With this, the total number of cases in the state stands at 44,648 while the death toll is 2,081. The state recorded 10 new deaths due to the disease in the last 24 hours. The state has recorded over 800 cases for four consecutive days while it has recorded over 700 cases five times so far.
The highest number of cases were recorded in Surat at 236 followed by Ahmedabad which had 173 cases. Vadodara and Gandhinagar recorded 77 and 30 cases respectively.
With this the total number of cases in Surat now stands at 8,642 while it is 23,599 for Ahmedabad. Vadodara has 3,279 cases while Gandhinagar has 973 cases.
Of the total 10 deaths recorded in the state in the last 24 hours, five were in Surat, two in Ahmedabad and one each in Gandhinagar, Navsari and Bhavnagar.
The total number of deaths in each of the four districts stand at 229 for Surat, 1,527 for Ahmedabad, 54 for Vadodara and 37 for Gandhinagar. The total number of active cases in the state is 11,221.
