- Second consecutive day of recording over 900 cases in a day, total touches 43,723
Gujarat on Tuesday recorded 915 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. This is the highest single day spike in COVID-19 ever recorded in the state. It is also the second time that the per day cases have crossed the 900 mark. With this, the total number of cases in the state stands at 43,723 while the death toll is 2,071. The state recorded 14 new deaths due to the disease in the last 24 hours. The state has recorded over 800 cases for four consecutive days while it has recorded over 700 cases five times so far.
Surat recorded the highest number of cases among all districts of Gujarat. The district recorded 291 cases while Ahmedabad had 167 cases in all in the last 24 hours. Vadodara and Gandhinagar recorded 76 and 26 new cases.

Surat recorded five new deaths while there were three for Ahmedabad and Vadodara each. Gandhinagar, Banaskantha and Bhavnagar recorded one death each.
The total number of cases in Ahmedabad now stands at 23,426 while it is 8,406 for Surat, 3,202 for Vadodara and 943 for Gandhinagar.
The death toll for Ahmedabad is 1,525 while it is 224 for Surat, 54 for Vadodara and 36 for Gandhinagar. The number of active cases in the state now stands at 11,097.
