- 2.35 lakh more test positive for Covid-19 in the country
New Delhi: The trend of increasing deaths and decreasing cases of Covid-19 in India continues. A total of 871 patients succumbed to the infection in last 24 hours, the health ministry said on Saturday morning. This is 38.9 per cent jump from the previous day’s death toll of 627.
A total of 2,35,532 persons tested positive during this period, down from 2,51,209 on Friday morning.
The daily positivity rate has reduced to 13.39 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate is 16.89 per cent.
Over 17.59 lakh samples were tested for Covid on Friday. So far, more than 72.57 crore samples have been tested across the country.
Recovery rate rises to 93.89%
Over 3.35 lakh patients recovered from Covid-19 in last 24 hours, taking the overall recovery to 3.83 crore. The recovery rate in the country has now improved to 93.89 per cent.
The active caseload has dropped to 20,04,333, which is 4.91 per cent of the overall case tally.
56.72 lakh vaccinated in a day
A total of 56,72,766 individuals received the Covid-19 vaccine on Friday. So far, over 1.65 billion (165.04 crore) doses have been administered under the nationwide vaccination programme.
