Covid-19 deaths in India rise again; 733 succumb to infection


New Delhi: The number of deaths due to Covid-19 crossed 700 in 24 hours. A total of 733 patients lost their lives to the infection during this period, the health ministry said on Thursday morning. This is a significant rise from 585 deaths recorded the previous day.

There were 16,156 fresh cases during this period, up from 13,451 the previous day.

The active caseload of Covid-19 in the country is 1,60,989, which is 0.47 per cent of the total cases. It is the lowest in 243 days, according to the ministry.

The daily positivity rate is 1.25 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate is 1.19 per cent.


98.2% recovery

As many as 17,095 patients recovered from the infection in last 24 hours. The overall recovery has crossed 3.36 crore, which is 98.2 per cent of the total cases.

Over 12.9 lakh more samples were tested for Covid-19. So far, over 60.44 crore tests have been conducted.


49.09 lakh vaccinated on Wednesday

More than 1.04 billion doses of Covid-19 have been administered in the country till now under the nationwide vaccination campaign. Of these, over 49.09 lakh were administered on Wednesday.


17 new cases in Gujarat

A total of 17 persons tested positive for Covid-19 in Gujarat on Wednesday. The recovery rate is 98.76 per cent. The active caseload is 173.
