Gandhinagar: All eyes have been on the Covid-19 situation in Gujarat even before Diwali. It was after Diwali last year that Covid cases had begun to rise. This year, while the number did not rise immediately, it started moving up a few days later. Over the past few days, Gujarat has been witnessing a rise in the daily tally of Covid-19.
In the 24 hours ending Wednesday, the state recorded 54 cases, which is the highest single- day tally in more than four months.
The worst hit is Ahmedabad, which alone accounted for 28 of the 54 cases.
The previous day, Ahmedabad reported 18 of the total 35 cases in Gujarat.
Besides Ahmedabad, Surat and Vadodara cities recorded four cases each on Wednesday, Surat and Vadodara rural reported 3 each, Kutch, Rajkot city and Valsad 2 each and Bharuch, Jamnagar rural, Junagadh city, Navsari and Rajkot rural 1 each.
4.25 lakh vaccinated in 24 hours
More than 4.25 lakh persons received the Covid-19 vaccine on Wednesday. Of these, 3.76 lakh took their second dose.
