5 from Surat family among 11 killed in a deadly accident on Vadodara highway


Five people from the Ahir family living in Asha Nagar Society in Purna area of Surat were among the 11 who were killed in a collision between a tempo and a trailer on Vadodara National Highway early on Wednesday morning.

Four from the same family have suffered injuries in the incident too.

As per reports Batukbhai Jinjala and four of his brothers and their family, as well as his paternal cousin, had left their home at night to visit the holy shrine in Pavagadh. They were to head towards Dakor later.

But the accident happened before the family could reach Pavagadh. Gujarat BJP President CR Patil also paid his condolences to the family

How the accident happened


The accident happened after the mini-truck carrying passengers rammed into a trailer leaving 11 people dead and 17 others injured on the outskirts of Vadodara city.

The accident took place at Waghodia circle near Vadodara at around 2.45 am when the victims were headed to Pavagadh in Panchmahal district. The victims are all residents of Surat and had hired the truck to reach the religious place.

The injured were rushed to the civil hospital.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani tweeted their condolences.

“Saddened by the loss of lives due to the road accident near Vadodara. Instructed officials to do needful. May those who have been injured recover at the earliest. I pray for the departed souls. Om Shanti,” Rupani tweeted.

“Saddened by the accident in Vadodara. My thoughts are with those who lost their loved ones. Praying that the injured recover soon. The administration is providing all possible assistance at the site of the accident,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tweeted.
