After Congress MLA from Jamalpur-Khadia, Imran Khedawala, tested positive for coronavirus, five of his family members have also tested positive for the deadly virus. The five members include the brother and sister-in-law of Khedawala, his two nephews and the wife of one of the nephews.
Notably, after Khedwala tested positive for the virus, the authorities immediately swung into action and had taken the sample of his family members who had come in contact with him during the past 10 days.
After the samples of five family members of the Congress MLA tested positive, all of them have been admitted to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (SVP) Hospital in Ahmedabad, where Khedwala is also admitted for treatment.
Notably, the Congress MLA had met Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel and Home Minister Pradipsinh Jadeja a few hours before his test results arrived to discuss ways on controlling the spread of coronavirus in the walled city areas of Ahmedabad that have evolved as the virus hotspots.
Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has been also quarantined at home as a precautionary measure and no visitors are allowed at his residence.
