Gujarat on Saturday recorded 498 new COVID-19 cases and 29 new deaths due to the disease in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of cases in the state now stands at 19,617, while the fatalities due to the disease is 1219. The state has been recording over 300 cases for more than a month now and has recorded more than 400 hundred cases for over a week now since the pandemic began.
Of the total deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, 26 deaths were reported from Ahmedabad followed by two in Surat and one in Vadodara. Gandhinagar reported no deaths due to the disease.
Ahmedabad continued to register the highest number of per day cases in the state. On Saturday, it recorded 289 such cases, followed by Surat and Vadodara that recorded 92 and 34 cases respectively. State capital Gandhinagar recorded 20 new cases.
The total number of cases in Ahmedabad now stand at 13,967, while the death toll is 994. The number of active cases in the state is 5,074. Surat and Vadodara come second and third in number of cases and death. The districts recorded 2,034 and 1,258 cases respectively so far since the pandemic began. Surat also saw 78 deaths while it was 43 for Vadodara. Gandhinagar has 401 cases and 15 deaths so far.
