Gujarat on Friday recorded 495 new COVID-19 cases and 31 new deaths due to the disease in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of cases in the state now stands at 22,562, while the fatalities due to the disease is 1,416. The state has been recording over 300 cases for more than a month now and has recorded more than 400 hundred cases for over a fortnight now.
Of the total deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, 22 deaths were reported from Ahmedabad, three in Surat followed by one each in Aravali, Patan Bharuch and one from other state. Gandhinagar reported two deaths due to the disease.
Ahmedabad continued to register the highest number of per day cases in the state. On Friday, it recorded 327 such cases, followed by Surat and Vadodara that recorded 77 and 37 cases respectively. State capital Gandhinagar recorded 5 new cases.
The total number of cases in Ahmedabad now stand at 15,962, while the death toll is 1,139. The number of active cases in the state is 5,645. Surat and Vadodara come second and third in number of cases and death. The districts recorded 2,444 and 1,471 cases respectively so far since the pandemic began. Surat also saw 93 deaths while it was 43 for Vadodara. Gandhinagar has 450 cases and 21 deaths so far.
