Gujarat on Thursday recorded 492 new COVID-19 cases and 33 new deaths due to the disease in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of cases in the state now stands at 18,609, while the fatalities due to the disease is 1,155. The state has been recording over 300 cases for more than a month now and has recorded more than 400 hundred cases seven times since the pandemic began. The cases recorded on Thursday have been the highest ever single day cases in the state so far.
Of the total deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, 28 deaths were reported from Ahmedabad followed by one each in Botad, Kutch, Patan and Valsad. Gandhinagar also reported one death due to the disease.
Ahmedabad continued to register the highest number of per day cases in the state. On Thursday, it recorded 291 such cases, followed by Surat and Vadodara that recorded 81 and 39 cases respectively. State capital Gandhinagar recorded 21 new cases.
The total number of cases in Ahmedabad now stand at 13,354, while the death toll is 938. The number of active cases in the state is 4,779. Surat and Vadodara come second and third in number of cases and death. The districts recorded 1,875 and 1,179 cases respectively so far since the pandemic began. Surat also saw 74 deaths while it was 42 for Vadodara. Gandhinagar has 360 cases and 15 deaths so far.
