Gujarat on Wednesday recorded 485 new COVID-19 cases and 30 new deaths due to the disease in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of cases in the state now stands at 18,117, while the fatalities due to the disease is 1,122. The state has been recording over 300 cases for more than a month now and has recorded more than 400 hundred cases six times since the pandemic began.
Of the total deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, 22 deaths were reported from Ahmedabad followed by three in Vadodara, two in Surat and one each in Bhavnagar, Kutch and Navsari. Gandhinagar reported no deaths due to the disease.
Ahmedabad continued to register the highest number of per day cases in the state. On Wednesday, it recorded 290 such cases, followed by Surat and Vadodara that recorded 77 and 34 cases respectively. State capital Gandhinagar recorded 39 new cases.
The total number of cases in Ahmedabad now stand at 13,063, while the death toll is 910. The number of active cases in the state is 4783. Surat and Vadodara come second and third in number of cases and death. The districts recorded 1,794 and 1,140 cases respectively so far since the pandemic began. Surat also saw 74 deaths while it was 42 for Vadodara. Gandhinagar has 339 cases and 14 deaths so far.
