47 infiltration bid along Indo-Pak border in 6 months: Centre

The Centre on Wednesday said 47 infiltration bids were reported along the Indo-Pak border during the last six months. The Union government, however, clarified that there was no infiltration bid reported along the India-China border during this period.

The government informed the Upper House that 594 infiltration bids were reported along the Indo-Pak border by Pakistani militants in the last three years. Of it, around 312 were successful.

“No infiltration has been reported along Indo-China border during last six months,” Union minister of state for home Nityanand Rai said in a written response to a question.

582 terrorists killed in J&K in 3 years

In a response to a separate question, Union minister of state for home G Kishan Reddy said 582 terrorists were killed in Jammu and Kashmir by security forces in the last three years. Additionally, he said 46 terrorists were arrested during this period.

The minister also informed the house that 76 army personnel were also killed in Jammu and Kashmir from 2018 till September 8, 2020.

India-China border issue remains unresolved

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said that India and China border issue remains unresolved. He had said that there has been no mutually acceptable solution and that China doesn’t recognise the traditional and customary alignment of the boundary.

The Defence Minister told the Lok Sabha that China maintains that the boundary between the two countries has not been formally delimited.

“The two sides have different interpretations of the position of the traditional customary line. The two countries had engaged in discussions during the 1950s-60s, but these efforts could not yield a mutually acceptable solution. We consider that this alignment is based on well-established geographical principals,” the defence minister said.

He also pointed out the various attempts of Chinese troops to unilaterally change the status quo in the eastern Ladakh region. The Union minister said that these attempts were thwarted by the Indian Army.

Infiltration bid foiled, terrorists eliminated in J& K in past months

While India was fighting a bitter stand-off with China at the border, the Indian security forces continued their drive against terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. In fact, many terrorists have been eliminated in joint operations by security forces in various parts of Jammu and Kashmir. The alert security forces also foiled many infiltration attempts from the Pakistani side.
