Gujarat has recorded 480 new COVID-19 cases and 30 fresh deaths due to the deadly virus in the last 24 hours ending at 5 pm on Sunday. With this, the total number of cases in the state now stands at 20,097, whereas the deaths due to the disease have jumped to 1,249. The state has been recording over 300 cases of the virus for more than a month now and has recorded more than 400 cases for over a week now since the pandemic began.
Of the total deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, 21 deaths were reported from Ahmedabad followed by two in Surat and one each in Banaskantha, Bharuch, Gandhinagar, Panchmahals, Mehsana, Kutch, and Rajkot.
Ahmedabad continues to register the highest number of per day cases in the state. On Sunday, it recorded 318 new cases, followed by Surat and Vadodara that recorded 64 and 35 cases, respectively. State capital Gandhinagar recorded 19 new cases.
The total number of cases in Ahmedabad now stands at 14,285, while the death toll is 1,015. The number of active cases in the state is 5,205. Surat and Vadodara come second and third in number of cases and death. The districts recorded 2,098 and 1,293 cases, respectively, so far since the pandemic began. Surat also saw 80 deaths while it was 43 for Vadodara. Gandhinagar has 420 cases and 16 deaths so far.
