Gujarat on Tuesday recorded 415 new COVID-19 cases and 29 new deaths due to the disease in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of cases in the state now stands at 17,632,, while the fatalities due to the disease is 1092. The state has been recording over 300 cases for more than a month now and has recorded more than 400 hundred cases five times since the pandemic began.
Of the total deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, 24 deaths were reported from Ahmedabad followed by one in Surat, Mehsana and Junagadh. Aravali recorded two deaths. Gandhinagar reported no deaths due to the disease.
Ahmedabad continued to register the highest number of per day cases in the state. On Tuesday, it recorded 279 such cases, followed by Surat and Vadodara that recorded 58 and 32 cases respectively. State capital Gandhinagar recorded 15 new cases.
The total number of cases in Ahmedabad now stand at 12,773, while the death toll is 888. The number of active cases in the state is 4,646. Surat and Vadodara come second and third in number of cases and death. The districts recorded 1,717 and 1,106 cases respectively so far since the pandemic began. Surat also saw 72 deaths while it was 39 for Vadodara. Gandhinagar has 300 cases and 14 deaths so far.
