Gujarat registered 395 cases of Covid19 on Monday. This is the first time that such a high number of cases is being registered on a single day in the last 24 hours taking the total number of such cases in the state to 12,141.
Of the total number of cases, the highest was recorded from Ahmedabad which saw 262 such cases. The district has been consistently recording over 200 cases for more than two weeks now. The second highest number of cases for the day was recorded from Surat (29) and Vadodara (18). The state capital Gandhinagar also recorded 10 new cases.
The total number of deaths recorded in the last 24 hours is 25 of which 16 deaths happened due to co-morbid conditions. With this the total death toll in the state due to the disease now stands at 719. Of the total 25 deaths, 21 were in Ahmedabad alone while 2 were in Surat. Aravalli and Gandhinagar registered one death each.
Ahmedabad continues to have the highest number of cases in the state with a total of 8,945 and a death toll of 576. The second highest number of cases are in Surat that has 1,156 such cases. The death toll in the district is 55, also the second highest in the state. Vadodara, which ranks third, has 700 cases and 32 deaths.
Gujarat has recorded the second highest number of cases in the country next only to Maharashtra.
