Gujarat on Friday recorded 372 new COVID-19 cases and 20 new deaths due to the disease in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of cases in the state now stands at 15,944, while the fatalities due to the disease is 980.
Of the total deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, 18 deaths were reported from Ahmedabad followed by two in Surat.
Gandhinagar did not report any death due to the disease.
Ahmedabad continued to register the highest number of per day cases in the state. On Friday, it recorded 253 such cases, followed by Surat and Vadodara that recorded 45 and 34 cases respectively. State capital Gandhinagar recorded 8 new cases.
The total number of cases in Ahmedabad now stand at 11,597, while the death toll is 798. The number of active cases in the state is 6,355. Surat and Vadodara come second and third in number of cases and death. The districts recorded 1,510 and 981 cases respectively so far since the pandemic began. Surat also saw 67 deaths while it was 39 for Vadodara. Gandhinagar has 249 cases and 13 deaths so far.
