3-time plasma donor gives Rs2.21 L to CM Relief fund


A three-time plasma donor has donated Rs2.21 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Faizal Chunara donated during chief minister Vijay Rupani’s visit to Surat.

The plasma donor had tested positive on his return from a foreign country.
He was admitted to the Civil Hospital and later recovered.
Soon after that, the government began a plasma donation drive and, Chunara donated his plasma for the first time.
He then donated the same twice more.
Chunara thus became the first person to donate plasma three times in a row in the state.


Later Chief Minister Vijay Rupani felicitated Chunara during his visit to Surat.
He was on a visit to take stock of the COVID-19 situation in the state. Chunara then donated Rs2.21 lakh to the CM Relief Fund.
He has promised to donate his plasma for 50 more times.

COVID-19 in Gujarat

Gujarat reported 1,101 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours ending 5 pm on Sunday.

The addition of the cases has taken Gujarat’s total tally to 63,675. Gujarat reported 22 deaths in the past 24 hours.

The new fatalities have taken Gujarat’s COVID-19 related death toll to 2,487.

While 12 deaths were from Surat, Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar and Vadodara have reported two death each.

The districts of Gandhinagar, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Patan and Rajkot have reported one death each.

District-wise cases

Of the 1,101 cases reported on Sunday, 237 cases were from Surat and 155 cases from Ahmedabad.

Similarly, 96 cases were from Vadodara, and 29 cases from the state capital Gandhinagar.

Rajkot reported 94 cases, Bhavnagar 72 cases, Mehsana 43 cases and, Jamnagar 52 cases.
