Security forces gunned down three Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists in Pulwama on Wednesday in an encounter that broke out early morning in Kangan area of Pulwama district.
The three terrorists were killed in the operation launched after receiving inputs about their presence in the Kangan area this morning. Identities of the slain terrorists are being ascertained.
A joint team of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Indian Army’s 55 Rashtriya Rifles, and 183 Battalion of CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Astan Mohalla, which ensued in a gunbattle.
“We had inputs about members of terror organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed being present in the area and that is why the operation was mounted,” said a senior police officer.
According to reports, the team encircled the spot on Wednesday morning and soon after that, the militants fired upon them triggering a gunfight.
As per sources, one of the Jaish terrorists was believed to be a commander. Meanwhile, internet services have been also snapped in Pulwama for precautionary measures.
