3 employees of CMO in Gujarat test positive for COVID-19


Three staff members working in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) of Vijay Rupani in Gandhinagar have tested positive for COVID-19. Apart from the CMO office, three cases were detected in the office of Cabinet Minister Jawahar Chavda and one in the office of Minister Ishwar Patel.

A driver in the energy department has also reportedly tested positive. In all, five cases of employees testing positive for COVID-19 have come in Swarnim Sankul-1 building while there are four in Swarnim Sankul- 2.

CMO has reported five cases since the pandemic began

Earlier in the first week of September, an employee of the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) in Gujarat had tested positive for COVID-19. At that time, it was the second such case to be reported from the CMO.

With the new cases, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the CMO has touched five.  The earlier two COVID-19 cases in the CMO office were detected when tests were carried out for employees in Sachivalay and Vidhansabha. 

Several BJP leaders and ministers have tested positive too

Several BJP ministers and leaders have also tested positive for COVID-19 since the pandemic began. Recently BJP Gujarat President CR Patil and BJP spokesperson Bharat Pandya were discharged from private hospitals after being successfully treated for COVID-19.  

Jayesh Radadiya, a minister in the Vijay Rupani government as well as BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP from Rajkot Abhay Bhardway had also tested positive. 

The condition of the latter is very critical and he is still under treatment at Rajkot Civil Hospital. All two MPs of BJP from Ahmedabad as well as all four MLAs have tested positive for the disease. 

Surat BJP MP Harsh Sanghvi who had attended many CR Patil rallies had also tested and recovered from COVID-19.
