India reported 28,637 new cases in the last 24 hours taking the total tally to 8,49,553. Of this, the 2,92,258 are active cases. The death toll due to the disease stands at 22,674.
Maharashtra continues to lead in the number of positive cases with a total of 2,46,600. The death tally in the states is 10,116 while the active number of cases are 99,499.
Tamil Nadu has the second highest number of cases at 1,34,226 and a death toll of 1,898 while the active cases are 46,413.
Delhi’s COVID-19 case count stands at 1,10,921, the death toll at 3,334.
Despite the overall rising numbers, the number of those cured have touched 5,34,621 with a recovery rate of 63%. A total of 19,235 COVID-19 patients were cured in the last 24 hours while 2,80,151 samples were tested during the same period.
India has the third highest number of COVID-19 cases in the world next only to Brazil and the United States.
The total cases across the world is 1.23 crore while death toll is 5,56,335 deaths.
