Sukma (Chattisgarh): At least two Naxals were killed in an exchange of fire between the group and security forces on Tuesday morning, according to police.
A joint team of security forces was on anti-Naxal operation when the encounter took place near Gompad and Kanhaiguda villages near Konta police station in Sukma at around 8 am on Tuesday, police said.
The team included personnel of the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA). They were tracking the movement of Naxals in Konta.
Two bodies were recovered from the spot. The officials also recovered arms and ammunition from the spot. According to them, looking at the blood stains, it seemed more Naxals must have been injured or killed and might have been carried inside the forest.
There were reports of many Naxals in the area.
