The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has sealed popular sweet shop Gwalia Sweets in Vastrapur after two employees tested positive. As of now, Gwalia Sweets shop is a quarantine zone.
The civic body is a worried lot as several people visited Gwalia Sweets shop across the city due to Rakshabandhan and Janmashtami. Contact tracing of all the people who visited the shop and interacted with the employees is difficult.
It should be noted that after Unlock 3.0 shops and establishments were allowed to function but had to follow certain protocols. Unfortunately, neither did shops follow them nor did the customers. This forced the AMC to set up squads to check for COVID-19 violations at such places.
The AMC has since then sealed several shops, malls, restaurants and offices. Most of them were sealed for violating COVID-19 norms including lack of masks and social distancing.
The AMC on Tuesday sealed 122 units including 120 shops at Murtimant Complex in Relief road for COVID-19 violations. It also fined 484 people for not wearing a mask in public and earned Rs4.84 lakh by way of penalty on Tuesday.
The AMC on Sunday night sealed Mango Restaurant, Poetry Restaurant and Birmies at Sindhu Bhavan road while Gajanand Poha House near Vastrapur lake was also shut down for violation of COVID-19 norms.
AMC officials said that social distancing was not being maintained at the sealed units. Many customers were also found without a mask at these restaurants.
Before that the civic body had sealed the Central Mall near Ambawadi, the Alpha One Mall in Vastrapur, a salon in Maninagar, a Brand Factory Outlet in Shah Alam Area and Reliance Digital showroom in Prahladnagar. The office of Savior Pharma in Sarkhej was also sealed for similar violations.
