1993 Bombay serial blasts case: Gujarat ATS arrests 4 wanted accused

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) team arrested four persons wanted in the 1993 Bombay serial blasts case. The accused were arrested from Ahmedabad.

All the four are close aides of Dawood and had come to Ahmedabad on fake passports.

Gujarat ATS DIG Deepan Bhadran was quoted by ANI as saying, “We had detained the 4 on suspicion of fake passports. On detailed probe, it was ascertained that they were wanted accused of 1993 Bombay serial blasts. They were then arrested. Original names are Abu Bakar, Yusuf Bhatka, Shoeb Baba, Sayyed Qureshi.”

1993 Bombay serial blasts

A total of 257 people were killed and over 1,400 injured in serial bomb blasts in Mumbai (then Bombay) on March 12, 1993. The attacks were reportedly carried out by the Dawood Ibrahim gang.

While several arrests have already been made, the key conspirators Dawood Ibrahim and Tiger Memon continue to be absconding.
