Nineteen people, mostly Sikh pilgrims, were killed in an accident between a bus and a train near Sheikhupura in Pakistan on Friday. The bus was hit by the train, Karachi-bound Shah Hussain Express, at an unmanned railway crossing.
The bus had around 27 pilgrims who were on their way from Peshawar where they had gone to visit the Gurdwara Sacha Sauda. Local media quoted Pakistan Railways spokesperson as saying that the accident occurred near Farooqabad and Bahali Wala. Several others have been injured and have been moved to a hospital. Local media said that a divisional engineer has been suspended and an inquiry has been ordered.
Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed condolence over the incident and asked authorities to lend all help possible in the incident.
