Gujarat recorded 1,561 COVID cases in the last 24 hours, the third consecutive day of recording less than 2000 cases. Gujarat has recorded less than 10,000 cases consecutively for over 20 days now.
In all, 4,869 patients were discharged during the same period. Twenty-two deaths due to the disease were recorded in the last 24 hours in the state.
Ahmedabad and Surat Municipal Corporations recorded five and two deaths each while two deaths were recorded in Vadodara municipal corporation limit. Rajkot Municipal Corporation recorded one fatality.
Apart from the three major municipal corporations the other districts and corporations that saw COVID fatalities were Vadodara, Surat, Junagadh, Gir-Somnath, Rajkot, Panchamhals, Mehsana, Bhavnagar, and Gandhinagar Corporation.
The state at present has 29,015 active cases of which 472 are on ventilators. So far, the state has discharged 7,71,860 patients while the fatality stands at 9,855. Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation alone recorded 256 cases. For close to eleven days now since the second COVID wave began, the AMC limits saw less than 1,000 cases. Surat Municipal Corporation registered 172 COVID cases. Surat district also recorded 80 cases.
Rajkot Corporation limits saw 86 while Vadodara Corporation had 172 cases. State capital Gandhinagar recorded 11 new cases. The state has a recovery rate of 95.21%.
Overall COVID cases in the state have now crossed the 8.10 lakh mark while Ahmedabad has recorded over 2.36 lakh cases so far since the pandemic began. Surat has over 1.41 lakh cases and Vadodara over 76,000 cases.
COVID vaccination status
So far 1.72 crore people have been vaccinated in the state. 48,206 people above 45 years of age got their first shot of vaccine while 28,413 people got their second shot of vaccine on Tuesday.
1.10 lakh people in the 18-44 age group got vaccinated in the last 24 hours. In all 1.96 lakh, people were vaccinated in the state during the same period.
