Gujarat COVID-19 Update: 1,379 new cases recorded


Gujarat COVID-19 figures on Wednesday touched 1,19,088 as the state recorded 1,379 new cases. The state has recorded over 1,300 cases for 16 days now.  The state has carried out 75,620 tests in the last 24 hours.

1,652 patients were cured of COVID-19 in the state in the last 24 hours taking the recovery rate to 83.81%. The state has in all recorded 16,007 active cases of which 96 are on ventilator support.

The state also saw 14 fatalities due to the disease. Of this, four were recorded in Ahmedabad while six were in Surat. Vadodara recorded two deaths while Devbhoomi Dwarka and Banaskantha had one fatality each.

Of the total deaths in Surat and Ahmedabad, four each were in AMC and SMC limits. With this, the total number of deaths in the state stands at 3,273.

The addition of four fatalities reported in the past 24 hours has taken the death toll due to COVID-19 in Ahmedabad to 1,773. The death toll has increased to 717 in Surat, whereas it remains 157 for Vadodara and 68 for Gandhinagar.

Surat city saw 171 new cases being recorded while 109 were reported from the district. Similarly, the Ahmedabad Corporation area had 151 new cases while it was 20 in the district. 

Vadodara and Gandhinagar corporations respectively recorded 86 and 18 cases. Interestingly, the city limits of Gandhinagar had fewer cases than the district.

Gujarat COVID-19 other interesting statistics  

The state has so far crossed over 1,200 cases per day seven times. Gujarat has recorded over 1,100 cases 18 times, over 1,000 cases 19 times, over 900 cases eight times and over 800 cases for four consecutive days. It has recorded more than 700 cases in a day five times so far.

The state conducted 75,620 tests in the last 24 hours for COVID-19 with the number of tests per million per day now standing at 1317.23. The state has tested over 36 lakh people for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
