- Vaccination figures drop by 1.36 lakh doses on Sunday compared to previous day amid reports of shortage
Gandhinagar: The number of daily cases of Covid-19 in Gujarat has hit another low. There were 112 fresh cases of infection in the state on Sunday. Three more patients succumbed to the infection in 24 hours, taking the death toll to 10,051, the health ministry said.
So far, the state has reported 8,23,244 cases of Covid-19. Of these 8,09,506 have recovered. There are 3,689 active cases, of which 21 are on ventilator while the rest are stable.
24 cases in Ahmedabad; no case in 11 districts
Ahmedabad reported 24 cases, all of which were in the city. There were 21 cases in Vadodara—14 in city and 7 in rural parts. Surat had 20 cases—13 in city and 7 elsewhere. Rajkot had 9 cases, Junagadh 4, Jamnagar 3, Gandhinagar 2 and Bhavnagar 1.
Elsewhere, Navsari and Valsad reported 4 cases, Banaskantha and Kutch 3, Gir-Somnath, Kheda, Panchmahals, Surendranagar 2 each, Amreli, Anand, Bharuch, Mehsana, Porbandar and Tapi 1 each.
No new case was reported from Aravalli, Botad, Chhota Udepur, Dahod, Dangs, Devbhumi Dwarka, Mahisagar, Morbi, Narmada, Patan and Sabarkantha.
Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Bhavnagar reported 1 death each.
On Sunday, 305 persons recovered from the infection.
Vaccination figures drop
A total of 2,40,985 persons received the vaccine during the day, taking the total number of doses administered till now to 2.48 crore. However, Sunday’s figures are significantly lower than Saturday’s when a total of 3,77,439 doses had been administered. This is a drop of over 1.36 lakh. There have been reports of shortage of vaccine doses in the state, which has affected its vaccination drive.
