Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government is trying to save the mother tongue Gujarati, on the other side, ten Gujarati schools of Ahmedabad have applied for the closure of schools due to non-availability of the students.

The schools include Navjeevan Primary School, Khodiar Nagar, Shivam Primary School, Naroda, Saraswati Primary School Maninagar, Maulana Azad School, Raikhad, Anupam Vidyamandir, Saijpur, I N Patel Swaminarayan School, Chandalodia, New Parag School, Sheetal Primary School, Kameshwar School-Satellite, Nalanda Primary School, RC Patel School, Sharada Mandir Shishu Mandir, Damubhai Shukla Primary School, New Fluorescent Private School-Thaltej and Vidyanagar Girls School.
At the same time, 9 new English schools have been approved. The permission has been granted after hearing, for the closure of the classes of more than 20 schools, held in the DEO office of Ahmedabad city.
The main reason for the closure of majority of the schools is the non-availability of students in Gujarati medium. Although on one hand the government is constantly making efforts to save the Gujarati medium, on the other hand the influence of English is getting stronger day by day.
